Be a Naturalist: Naturalist Application

Objectives:

  1. The student will recognize the watershed that they live in
  2. The student will recall the steps needed to take in order to become a Naturalist.
  3. Students will learn about application forms and the purposes in accordance with the Personal Planning Section of the IRP's

Materials Needed:

Activity:

Discuss with the class what watershed they live in. establish what the immediate watershed and the greater watershed is. For example a student may be part of the Nechako River watershed which is also part of the Fraser River Watershed.

Have students connect to the internet, go to www.kidfish.bc.ca , and click on the stewardship icon. The students should read the introduction and the Be a Naturalist section.

After discussing with the class what they have read (the steps needed to become a naturalist), hand out the "Stewardship Worksheet # PP-1 (Naturalist application form)".

Have the students refer to the pages they have read as they fill out the form.
