Lesson #2

Mini Reports
Getting to know the contents of " Our Rivers".

Objectives:

  1. The student will become familiar with the content of the “Our Rivers” section of the www.kidfish.bc.ca website.
  2. The student will be able to give a short ‘mini’ report on a section of information

Materials Needed:

  • Computers connected to the Internet
  • notebook

Activity:

Have students work singly or in pairs. Have them connect to the Internet and go to www.kidfish.bc.ca

Once the students have accessed the website, they should click on the “Our Rivers” icon. Depending on teacher preference, students can make themselves familiar with the whole section or just the heading they were assigned

The “Our Rivers” section of the website contains many headings with short descriptions. In this activity each student is assigned a heading for which he/she needs to give a short, oral report of a few sentences. Notes recorded in a notebook ahead of time is recommended.

Once the students are ready, they can stand up one at a time and give their presentation. These presentations can be broken up over two to three time periods.
