Life Span of a Lake

Objectives:

  1. Students will be able to visually depict the stages in the life span of a lake

Materials Needed:

  • Computers connected to the Internet
  • paper (8 ½ by 11) or larger if desired
  • Pencil crayons, felts, rulers, pencils, construction paper

Activity:

Students need to log onto www.kidfish.bc.ca. and click on the "Our Lakes" icon. Students then need to click on "life span of a lake" in blue print.

Through reading and discussion, have the students become familiar with the content of this section.

Hand out paper to students and have them fold their page in half once. Then have them fold it in half again but the other way. Each square will represent a stage in a lake's life. Label the squares as shown below.

In each square have students draw what occurs at each stage. On the back students briefly describe what is happening. Students are to label each stage
