Geology of Lakes Infoposter

Objectives:

1. Students will be able to visually demonstrate how lakes came to be.

Materials Needed:

• Computers connected to the Internet
• Poster Paper (8.5 x 14 inches)
• Pencil crayons, felts, rulers, pencils, construction paper

Activity:

Students need to log onto www.kidfish.bc.ca. and click on the "Our Lakes" icon. Students then need to click on "geology of a lake" in blue print.

Using the information provided in this section, students are to make a poster illustrating the different ways lakes came to be. Students should focus on having the visual explain the process. There should only be minimal wording. A title and labeling will be necessary. Brainstorming what makes effective posters with the class before starting would be helpful.

OR

This same activity could be done in a pamphlet format by taking paper and folding it into a pamphlet. The front page would be the title page and the information explaining the Geology of Lakes could be inside. Here students could combine both writing and illustration to explain how lakes came to be.
