The Fishes Art: Lesson #1 Segmented Fish Project |
|||
|
This project makes a colourful mobile that can be hung up. It can be made out of coloured metal foils and wire. A spinning top painted to look like a float can be used to balance the fish, and apart from this, very little is needed. Use a fine wire to suspend the foil pieces. Cotton string has a tendency to spin and unwind - which in the case of the fish- only occasionally brings all the bits into the position intended. Use green and blue-green foils which, if crinkled lightly and then straightened, glisten rather like a fish twisting and turning with the water currents. Step one: cut out your fish shape, then slice it. Step two: crinkle and straighten the pieces (if desired) Step three: suspend the pieces from a piece of coat hanger with fuse wire Step four: paint the float and attach it to another piece of coat hanger. Attach the fish to the other end (other objects can be used to balance the fish). Step five: find the fulcrum with a ruler and mark it with a felt marker. Attach another piece of wire to the coat hanger wire here so that the mobile can be hung from the ceiling. |
