Exploring our province through mapping.

Objectives:

1. Students will use their mapping skills to create a map of BC.
2. Students will identify major cities, mountain ranges, rivers, and lakes that make up our province.
3. Students will practice using the atlas and websites to locate information for their map.

Materials Needed:

• computers connected to the internet
• Nystrom Atlas
• Environment Worksheet #SS-3a (Blank BC Map)
• Environment Worksheet #SS-3b (Directions)

Activity:

Review with students how to neatly and correctly label a map. Also review how to use an atlas.

Provide students with the worksheets listed above (Materials). Have students carefully draw, on the blank map, the features listed on the Directions sheet. Label and color the map.
