Compare ways animals adapt to harsh northern climates.

Objectives:

The student will be able to identify some northern animals and how they adapt to the harsh northern climates of British Columbia.

Materials Needed:

• Computers connected to the internet
• Environment Worksheet #S-3

Activity:

Using the worksheet provided students will compare how some animals are able to adapt and therefore survive the harsh winters in the northern part of our province

Hand out the Environment Worksheet # S-3

Have students connect to the internet and go to www.kidfish.bc.ca

Once students have accessed the website, they should click on the “Our Environment” icon and then click on “animal life”. Have the students read the animal life portion paying attention to how the animals deal with winter. After this they should follow the instructions on their worksheet.
