Weather in the Fraser River Watershed

Objectives:

1. The student will be able to locate weather information from the Weather Office Web Site for a specific British Columbia place
2. The student will be able to comment on the wide range of weather found within the Fraser River Watershed

Materials Needed:

• Computers connected to the Internet
• Environment Worksheet #S-2a (Map)
• Environment Worksheet #S-2b (Watershed Weather)

Activity:

For this lesson, the students will require basic background knowledge on humidity, air pressure, and the Fraser River watershed. Some direct teaching may be necessary.

Have students work singly or in pairs. Hand out the “Environment Worksheet #S-2a (Map)” and “Environment Worksheet #S-2b (Watershed Weather)”. Have students highlight the place names on the map that they will be recording weather information for. This information is on the Watershed Weather worksheet.

Have students follow the instructions on Environment Worksheet #S-2b.
